Concert News: The National/Modest Mouse/R.E.M. Mega Tour

According to a report from Billboard.com and confirmed by R.E.M.’s and Modest Mouse’s handlers, Modest Mouse and The National will serve as the opening acts on R.E.M.’s upcoming tour. Representatives for The National had been listening to Boxer too often, and were too lachrymose to respond with anything other than muted whispers and resigned attempts at defiance.

"I can assure you the amount of work that we put into the O2 (concert), for ourselves rehearsing and the staging of it, was probably what you put into a world tour," Page told Reuters.

Ghislain Poirier Serves Up New LP on Ninja Tune, Tours image
Québécois DJ Ghislain Poirier has pretty omnivorous taste. From Dizzee Rascal and Juelz Santana to obscure African hip-hop, as long as the bass thumps, Poirier has room for it in his collection. For No Ground Under, his first album on Ninja Tune, Poirier has taken a break from his recent mixing work to deliver 14 of his own original tweaked-out jams. Quite a few of the tracks on No Ground Under were featured on Poirier’s recent "Bastard Bass" Mix, which you can hear here. Ninja Tune will release No Ground Under in the U.S. on January 29, and it comes out everywhere else on February 18.
