The last time Sinatra debuted so high was in 1993 with the No. 2 hit "Duets," which went on to sell 3.2 million copies. Sinatra's name and works are all over the media landscape of late. Warner Home Video is releasing 22 of his films, including "Ocean's Eleven," "The Man With the Golden Arm" and "Anchors Aweigh." Turner Classic Movies, backed by a ubiquitous advertising campaign, is showing Sinatra movies and musical specials throughout the month of May hosted by his children, Nancy, Tina and Frank Jr.

Organisers of Leeds festival Wax: On Live blamed �the credit crunch that has the UK in the grip of an economic stranglehold’ for forcing them to cancel their indie rock/ rave/ house event just 10 days before the festival was due to take place at Leed’s Lotharton Hall. Chief promoter Dan Blackledge claimed performers including Primal Scream, Sinden, Green Velvet, Ivan Smagghe and Steve Lawler had delivered robust ticket sales for the 6 arena festival though hinted that sponsorship issues had scuppered the event.

Satire: Tom Waits Fans Respond to Glitter and Doom Ticket Policy

The ticket policy utilized for Tom Waits’ upcoming Glitter and Doom concert tour is receiving mixed reviews among the musician’s more vocal fans. This policy, primarily designed to ensure that scalpers do not have an opportunity to acquire and then resell tickets at butt-puckering inflated prices, limits the number of tickets to two per household per show, requires the purchaser to show both the credit card used and government-issued photo identification the night of the show, and ends with a quick, relatively painless blood donation that would seriously go a lot smoother if you’d just stop squirming and crying and remember this needle can very easily go somewhere else but if you’re good you’ll get juice and cookies. 

Many Waits fans feel this is the best way to ensure that his most dedicated and affluent fans have an opportunity to see the musician live, without having to pay exorbitant prices to scalpers that they would willingly pay anyway.

Looking Forward: Upcoming Albums from Journey, Gary Numan, & More

On June 23rd, Gary Numan is releasing Jagged Edge, an alternative version of 2006’s Jagged. Jagged Edge will be a double album clocking in at over an hour and a half. Keeping busy this year, on top of plenty of touring, Numan also has a coffee table book in the works, celebrating 30 years of music, from Tubeway Army onward.

Famed 90’s alternative rockers The Offspring and back with their 8th studio album, Rise and Fall, Rage and Grace, set to be released on June 17th. The first single from the album, “Hammerhead,” has already hit the airwaves, and is available as a free download on the band’s official site.

On June 3rd, folk-pop icon Jewel is going country with her latest album, Perfectly Clear.
