Exit Festival Locks Down Its Dates For 2008
(Novi Sad, Croatia) - If you’re been to Creamfields so many times that the scallies know your last name, and Global Gathering seems a bit tame, then maybe you need a little Exit in your life. Yes, the four-day Serbian adventure that is the Exit Festival has announced its dates for this year: Thursday 10th - Sunday 13th July 2008. Tickets are also on sale now, which might seem a bit premature… unless you think that acts as diverse as Danny Tenaglia, Paul Woolford, Underworld and Massive Attack can’t be wrong!
The Exit Festival was founded nine years ago, as a protest against the tyranny of Slobodan Milosevic by local students. Since then, it’s become a hit on the international festival scene, with a longstanding commitment to breaking down cultural barriers by using music as a social catalyst. Some of the internationally-acclaimed artists who’ve already graced the bill include: Basement Jaxx; Fatboy Slim; The Prodigy, Dave Clarke, Richie Hawtin and Trentemøller.
Speaking of the good Mr Hawtin, the Minus maestro himself had to say, ‘Exit was one of the most interesting gigs for me this year (2007). The location was amazing and to feel the warmth of the people dancing and freaking out to my music was inspirational!’
Exit takes place at the Petrovaradin Fortress in Novi Sad, Serbia. This 17th Century fortress has already seen more than 10,000 British festivalgoers making the trip over in 2007, which led the event to win the Best European Festival Award at last year’s UK Festival Awards.
Aside from the dance acts mentioned here (and masses of others), Exit’s commitment to diversity extends to a hugely varied line-up. Past years have seen Morrissey, Snoop Dogg, Scissor Sisters and White Stripes all play, so roll on April when the line-up’s confirmed, we say.
“Novi Sad, Croatia”??? WTF???? Novi Sad is in Serbia!!! Croatia is different country!
